Our office uses digital radiography (x-rays), which is safer and more environmentally friendly than conventional radiography. Digital Radiography decreases the amount of radiation by 90%. Digital technology also allows us to capture your x-ray images in seconds—no more waiting for film to develop.
In addition, our office uses cutting edge 3-D CT scans for enhanced treatment planning and safety. Our CT scans take a three-dimensional view of the jaw, teeth, sinus, tooth roots and bone structure so we can carefully and efficiently plan your dental surgery. Using 3-D CT scan technology, we can visualize the placement of dental implants in a real 3-D environment. Computer guided implant surgery provides greater patient satisfaction and simplifies the dental implant treatment process.
Digital x-rays and CT scans performed by Progressive Implantology & Periodontics are used solely in the diagnosis of periodontal treatment, laser periodontal treatment and/or dental implant surgical procedures and read only to the extent pertaining to your dental treatment. It is recommended that patients ask that their CT scan be evaluated by a radiologist for pathology and that results be sent to your Primary Care Physician. The amount of radiation used during a CT scan is considered minimal; therefore, the risk for radiation exposure is low.
