What is Gum Disease?

Tooth loosening and loss, bad breath and bleeding gums can all be symptoms of gum disease. Caused by a bacterial infection in the gum and bone surrounding your teeth, gum disease can eventually leave you unable to function and chew with your remaining teeth. If you have tender or receding gums, shifting teeth or have been told by your dentist that you have “deep pockets,” you may have gum or periodontal disease.
