Tunneling Technique for Receeding Gums
The Tunneling Technique is a revolutionary, patient-friendly option that can treat receding gums and cover exposed tooth roots. Tunneling Technique is one of several methods that make it possible to treat gum recession non-invasively. By creating the smallest of access points into the gum and manipulating the tissue from this small access, your exposed roots can be covered simply by sliding the tissue onto the appropriate area.
Typically, the procedure can be done in about one to two hours and most patients are back to their normal routine the next day.
Soft Tissue or Root Coverage Procedure
Over time the gum may recede from your teeth, exposing the sensitive and decay prone portion of the tooth normally covered by a healthy layer of bone and gum. Today there are many procedures that Progressive Implantology & Periodontics offers to aid in recovering the roots to improve esthetics and protect the teeth from harmful acids created by bacteria. You may have heard of procedures utilizing tissue from a second site in your mouth. Thankfully today there are often alternatives which can make the procedure less invasive.
